New York State no longer requires
that a patient have a prescription for physical therapy services,
except for no fault and workers compensation cases. This
law was passed November 23, 2006 and has several stipulations
including the following:
- The direct access of therapy
services may last for a period of 30 days or 10 visits, whichever
comes first.
- The treating physical therapist
needs to have at least 3 years of practice experience.
- Consumers need to be informed
in writing that insurances may not cover therapy services
without a prescription. |
